Why dumping more gravel never works
Rural drives around Amanda, Bremen, Rushville, Sugar Grove and the townships between fail the same way: the ditch grows in, the culvert plugs, water saturates the base, and every vehicle pumps mud up through the stone. Fresh gravel on top of a wet base disappears in one season — you're not fixing the drive, you're feeding it.
We rebuild from the water up: re-cut the ditch line so it actually flows, replace the crushed culvert with properly sized HDPE, then excavate the failed sections, lay geotextile fabric so base and mud stay separated forever, and build compacted #304 in lifts with a crowned surface that sheds rain instead of holding it. Done that way, the drive stops being an annual expense.

Do I need a permit to replace my culvert?
If the culvert sits in the township or county right-of-way where your drive meets the road — most do — then yes, and we handle the permit as part of the job. Culverts fully on your own property usually don't need one.
What does a driveway rebuild cost?
Spot repairs with culvert replacement typically run $2,000 to $5,000. Full rebuilds with fabric and new base run by the length — most residential drives land between $4,000 and $12,000. Adding gravel to a drive with good bones is the cheap end; we'll tell you honestly which one you need.
When's the best time to do this?
Late spring through fall, once the ground firms up. If your drive is failing now, get on the schedule now — the estimate and permit lead time means waiting until it's bad usually means waiting through another wet season.
