Why Lancaster yards hold water
Most of Lancaster sits on heavy clay, and clay barely absorbs anything — rain either runs off or ponds. The older neighborhoods toward downtown add a second problem: decades-old clay-tile downspout lines that have collapsed or rooted shut underground, so gutters that look connected are actually dumping at the foundation. The newer builds on the edges of town have the opposite issue — lots graded once at construction and never touched since, settling into low spots that collect their own runoff plus the neighbor's.
A French drain fixes the water that's already in the ground: perforated pipe in a washed-stone bed, wrapped in fabric so Lancaster's fine clay silt can't plug it, pitched to a real outlet. Where the problem is water arriving from uphill, we build it as a curtain drain that intercepts the flow before it reaches the house.

How long does installation take?

Will it fix my wet basement?
